Welcome to GentryLinks Books Ltd where we are building a specialised golf heritage publishing brand.
Our latest publication, alongside a sister publication, titled A Life's Two Nines is:
Origins 1926
We interpet the emergence of the modern game through iconic golf portraiture and historical art.
We find the characters who shaped the 'modern game' between 1830 and 1930. Each title combines fine art digital photography of iconic paintings, with original research, focusing on the people who transformed the game.
Origins 1926 was created in collaboration with the celebrated British portrait artist Anthony Oakshett. His large-scale painting, The Origins of the Ryder Cup 1926 completed in 1994, portrays the era when the modern game reached its maturity, evidenced by parity between with the gentlemen's game (amateurs) and the players' (professionals).
GentryLinks Books Ltd provides the research, stories, and historical context behind the artwork's detailed portraiture that captures the spirit, character and colour of that era.
The artist will sell large-scale, numbered, limited-edition digital prints of his painting, together with Origins 1926.
This initiative links fine art photography and scholarship: the artistry of the past with the insights of the present.
